I had a talk with my insurance guy about wood heat. For home use, the
companies he represents HATE the stand-alone wood-stoves, but do not put a
premium on insuring either fireplaces (consider Rumford, although not for
your purposes) or built-in masonry stoves. The Rocket Stove surely
qualifies as the latter.

I don't have a really good idea of what you are proposing--a gas burner used
for a rocket stove? no idea if that would work. You could surely get the
heat--can fuel a kiln for porcelain with propane, but....

But you could ask.

and there are the out-of-doors "wood furnaces." A lot against them,
although I do know people who love theirs. I don't know if their insurance
company does.

I have been thinking about the rocket stove and sending the exhaust pipe
into the wall before heading outside. I am wondering if anyone knows of
anyone who has put in a heat exchange loop in this type of similar
situation. Or do you have a reccomendation of a commercial burner that might
do the job? I am wondering if having a non-certified burner will exclude me
from being able to get insurance? Anyone have to deal with this insurance
issue yet?
