[Cob] hypocaust system for second floor

Hi,
I am considering a hypocaust system for a second floor
application between wooden floor joists. I am thinking
of using the floor joist bays as airways and cutting
large holes in, removing or using flat 2x4s top and
bottom for blocks. The supply and return air could be
located on one side like hydronic heating. The heat
could be supplied by radiators next to a fan that
would force the air through the system.
Is this a common heating system?
