Hi cob enthusiasts, remember us, Matt and Sarah of the cob cottage in Corvallis,Oregon project. It has been a while since we posted any updates on our building project, this is due to the lack of measureable progress we have had to brag about. We're still trying to sort out how to comply with code in order to get a permit request put together so we can, with lots of luck, continue work on the cottage. For a long time we have been grappeling with the insulation factor. This is a tuff one and after much research and thought, we have determined we can't figure it out on our own and are willing to pay a mechanical engineer to help us in this regard, thus hopefully giving our project even more credibility in the eyes of the city officials. So I'm seeking mechanical engineer recommendations. Does anyone know a mechanical engineer here in the NorthWest who would be interested in a very alternative type of project or one who has experience with cob or other alternative building methods? We got great advice on a structural engineer from people on this list serve, so we're hoping to tap into your collective knowledge again for a mechanical engineer. Thanks! Sarah Booth and Matt Shivers.
