[Cob] cob in cold climate

I am aware of some built in area's like yours, though all of them used 
a straw bale wrap of some sort around at least part of the building to 
improve insulation.  Never heard how any of them perform.  I would 
recommend looking into "cob-bale" which is a hybrid cob-straw bale wall 
system using a 7+ inch thick cob inner wall and a straw bale outer wall 
built as a single integrated wall.
