[Cob] cob planter attachedCharmaine Taylor dirtcheapbuilderbooks at gmail.comWed Feb 17 21:29:24 PST 2010
I could do a lime finish so it would withstand rain for longer, it would need fixups every couple of years. WHat is the general feeling of what is too much rain and what is an amount you can get away with no roof? ======= You could also do an overlapped wood shingle or a overlapped tiled top area so rain slides off the planter rim, instead of just letting the 4-6" ( thick?) rim of the planter get wet. I would agree with your idea of lime plaster over the whole thing inside, and out ,before the plastic or other liner. and Lime does not need fixing that often, it takes years to wear down an inch of lime plaster from rain and weather. Hey.. are you planning on putting dirt right INTO the cob planter, or make a separate container that can be removed, whether a long plastic planter trough or plastic bag/EPDM liner with holes for drainage? -- Charmaine Taylor Publishing retired http://www.dirtcheapbuilder.com < new owner- free shipping!
