[Cob] windbreak plants for cob

Here are two thought for you.  If your plot is very small it would probably be just as effective to do a property line planting of your windbreak,,, and safer for your cob.  Plus then you could have a bit bigger shrub then.
Windbreaks do well with layering, so you might consider putting a walkway directly next to the structure, then after the walkway a short fence like maybe a picket made out of repurposed pallets THEN the shrubs.  Being that close it would have to be shorter but the fence would give your building some protection from the planting.
If you want a food bearing hedge consider bush cherries or hazelnuts.
