[Cob] Linseed oil sealant coat for the winter?

Hiya everyone-

Question:

We just finished a cob garden wall in the backyard.  We got our first heavy rainstorm last night.  The wall got hit by rain pretty hard in several places.  It's fine, but got wet.  
We are planning on doing an earthen finish this spring, when temperatures allow for proper drying time (we go up and down around freezing here right now and I know finishes need a long time to dry).  
I am wondering if we could apply the Linseed oil/dish soap mixture I was planning on putting over the final finish to the wall now, for extra protection through the winter.
Will the earthen finish still attach to the wall properly in the spring if we coat the wall in linseed oil now?
