how excessive is 1250sq ft for 4 people?
	In America that size cob house might be excessive, and to the  
hardcore environmentalists here, but the houses in Devon seem to be  
pretty big. Look up www.buildsomethingbeautiful.com where they have  
lots of photos of construction sites. Also, on that site you will  
find a download that will provide valuable information which you  
should consider in your design.

have to wonder even with roof overhang if that might sacrifice summer  
comfort if I can add heat but can't cool this house.
	If your overhangs are large enough, I'd be more concerned with  
heating the house because cob seems to stay pretty cool to the touch  
here in Georgia.

I might need buttressing in places too.
	This should always be a part of the design, especially with long  
runs of straight walls.

small electric fridge or just a root cellar
	What I done was use the soil from my dug root cellar, which probably  
won't give you all you need for a 1250 sqft house, but couple that  
with a small pond and you should have enough.
