[Cob] strawbale to existing adobe wall attachment

What are the nuts and bolts putting a half bale [longways] skin on a  
stabilized adobe wall? How to people prepare a two string bale for  
sawing up the middle. i.e. how is the tension on the added new  
strings achieved? This assumes making it into a four string bale to  
give the halves some integrity for handling once it is sawed up the  
middle.
