Cob: this and that

Good day to you,
Anyone know of any cobbing going on in Australia, New Zealand? I am getting 
closer to taking a trip that way and would like to cob in the Southern 
Hemisphere.
My friend built a small cob house and put bottles near the bottom of the 
walls. They cracked. Anybody have this experience or venture an answer to 
Why. The house is in Arizona.
I have heard of cob bathtubs, what seals cob that well?
