Cob: NO FOAM And Natural Stains

  I found a straw bale/stucco cabin a while back that hada straw bale 
foundation.  They wrapped the bales in six layers of platic before putting 
them in the ground.  I thought this would be a bad idea since I have seen 
plastic exposed to the elements crack open, but it may have been because it 
was exposed to sunlight.  Would anyone else consider using plastic wrapped 
straw bales a risky thing to do?
