Cob: Underground Cob

Underground cob!!!!!

That sounds like a great idea.  Is anyone familiar with the Earthship 
design?  They used tires, but mortared rocks and cob would work fine.  
If you are north of the equater, build into a hill, and face south for 
solar gain.

How arid is your area???  I live in the Chihuahuan desert, and I have 
been contemplating a similar structure.  A Kiva style structure would 
be great to me.  Use a teepee, waddle and dawb style, or thatch roof.
