Cob: Pise de Terre NOT an acronym origianllyCharmaine tms at northcoast.comFri Jan 31 11:22:10 CST 2003
I need to slightly correct the comment on PISE....Pise is FRENCH, and it does refer to rammed earthe.."pise de terre" is the correct term, which is shortened to just Pise'. Karl Ellington wrote about it in this book Modern Pise- A Revelation for the Farmer & Settler, in 1923. David Easton CO-OPTED the word to make it an acronym for Rammed earth with his expensive pneumatic wood hogging method that requires 8 guys and thousands of dollars of equipment to build a simple rammed earth..more suitable for people who cannot do the building themselves, or who have money to throw at a house.
