Oh yea, since I did mention the latex paint on the cob, I should mention that the test area I did only had it on one side and thus trapping water inside the wall was not a problem. Peeling would be the least of your worries. According to information I obtained from the "Cob Bricks" website (company in Devon, England that has been making cob bricks for many years), it is important to stick with the limestone plastering methods because they are "breathable" and will allow water to evaporate from your cob structure after rains, etc. Structures covered with cement, latex paints, etc., do not allow for this evaporation and they warned that many cottage owners have come home one day to find their older cottages collapsed into heaps of rubble and dust (with no forewarning!). Looks like the old methods (tried and true) are best. Good luck! -----Original Message----- From: Ric Allan [mailto:ric at mx5.net] Sent: Tuesday, February 25, 2003 6:35 PM To: jen walker; coblist at deatech.com Subject: Cob: Re: Metal Roofing Somebody needs to go back to school.. if anything, it would shield from same, not generate -----Original Message----- From: jen walker <jwalker at magma.ca> To: coblist at deatech.com <coblist at deatech.com> Date: Tuesday, February 25, 2003 11:32 AM Subject: Cob: Metal Roofing >Hi there, I read in 'The Hand Sculpted House' , that there are concerns that >steel roofing may cause some kind of electromagnetic field in the building. >It doesn't mention if this has actually been studied or is speculative.
