Cob: enviroshake/ rain collection

Hello,
I went to a 'country home show' last weekend and one booth had 'enviroshake'
on display which is made from recycled tires mixed with hemp to look like
cedar shakes. They looked quite natural and quite nice close up. They
apparently cost about the same as cedar shakes but they have a 50 year
guarantee and don't start to break down for about 100 years. Just wondering
if anyone could predict what the off-gassing situation may be on to rain
water if one was collecting. I asked the rep and he looked like no one had
ever asked him that before but thinking on his feet said it'd be fine after
the first few good rains.

Any thoughts?
