For insulation?  Serve to decrease insulation values, increase thermal mass? 
  There are, however, at least  in this county both loose-pack and 
dense-pack cellulose proponents.

It seems to be made from recycled paper--so, fibers might, if anything be 
smaller??

Boric acid, borax, for the fireproofing additives.
