yes - you could do earthbags as a foundation under
anything.  They did cinder blocks on three sides, as
it was cheaper than buying gravel for the bags, and
b/c it was easier, and also because the owner didn't
want to dig a huge pit in her yard to have enough soil
to fill the bags, as the cob wall alone and the
earthen floor and plasters all needed soil too.
