Cob: winter climates

Hey there,
I'm a bit new to the cob concept, and have two questions for everyone. 
I live in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, and am looking at doing 
some cob structures. I was curious if anyone has built a cob house in 
this kind of climate or has experiance with cob/strawbail construction.
The other structure that I am looking into is an ice house, maybe with 
cob, and was wondering if anyone has info on how to build one and how 
to store ice. thanks everyone.
