For the first, check out two books--Ianto Evans et al (Hand Sculpted
House--there's a bit in there about when each medium might work better) and
Serious Straw Bale, by two Canadians, Paul Lacinski and Michel Bergeron.
There's at least one historic cob or cob-like house in Montreal, I think.
Mentioned in the Evans Smiley and Smith book.
No information on the second, except that it's possible.
Jason Schneider asked:
I'm a bit new to the cob concept, and have two questions for everyone. I
live in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, and am looking at doing some cob
structures. I was curious if anyone has built a cob house in this kind of
climate or has experiance with cob/strawbail construction.
The other structure that I am looking into is an ice house, maybe with cob,
and was wondering if anyone has info on how to build one and how to store
ice. thanks everyone.
