hi jilly,

i can think of 2 ways, one, if you have much thicker
walls down rather than thinner up

2, if the down is partially under the earth, with only
1 or 2 sunny sides out-facing, and the remainder
backing into earth, which provides support for the
upstairs and nice insulation all round.
