I bet it also stays a lot cooler than a dark roof.  Does anyone have any
data on roof colour vs. heat transferred inside the house.

Another web page mentioned a law that roofs in Bermuda must be whitewashed
annually.

Another link says the lime keeps the drinking water clean.  Are there any
negative aspects to drinking water from a lime whitewashed roof?
