Cob construction in Tennessee??

Hi All!

        Does anyone know if cob houses have been built in Tennessee --- and
if so, what do the building codes there (especially in the rural areas
around Chattanooga) require as far as foundations are concerned?  Is this
even a viable concept to try and submit to the local authorities for a
building permit?

        We're on the west coast right now and are eager to move "home to
the South" next year and build a house on some rural acreage, but I
certainly DON'T want to have to tear something down later because it didn't
meet code!!
