Cob: RE: Any body building with cob in the Athens, Ga. area?Patrick Newberry PNewberry at HFHI.orgMon Dec 10 08:00:40 PST 2001
As far as clay goes, No problem, lots of good Georgia red clay there. I'm not sure of the percentage of clay / sand in the local soil I'm sure it's available locally. As far as codes go, the only info I know is that some years ago, a friend tried to build a strawbale sturcture and was turned down. Again, I'm not sure what county they were in but it was near Athens on the Broad river. Pat www.gypsyfarm.com way down in middle Georgia. -----Original Message----- From: Sabrina L Acevedo [mailto:sabdan at surfsouth.com] Sent: Sunday, December 09, 2001 4:43 PM To: coblist at deatech.com Subject: Cob: Any body building with cob in the Athens, Ga. area? Hello, we are hoping to relocate to the Athens area in the spring. We hope to find a nice patch of land and hopefully incorporate cob into our building and design methods. Any info about codes and availability of land w/ clay/sand in the area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
