Cob: RE: Re: Cob fireplace / heater.Patrick Newberry PNewberry at HFHI.orgMon Dec 10 10:03:04 CST 2001
I'm buidling a cob fire place / heater. I have one of those mexican clay outdoor fire pots that I am inclosing in cob. What I'm wondering is what to plaster the thing with when I finish. I'm wondering about lime and heat, or what other plasters can handle heat. pat www.gypsyfarm.com -----Original Message----- From: lucynda norton [mailto:dragonfly_183 at hotmail.com] Sent: Monday, December 10, 2001 10:06 AM Cc: Coblist at deatech.com Subject: Cob: Re: Cob, pine needles anyone? (snip) I was wondering if anyone has experience with the use of pine needles in >cob - - in any proportion with the use of straw?? We also have a lot of pine needles in my area in Arkansas. I've used them to make baskets and although I haven't used them in walls in place of straw I have used them to make test bricks and they seemed to work just as well. I tried them simply because I knew they were plentiful and free. After all if I ran out on my property I didn't think anyone would object to me taking the ones laying in there yard. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
