Cob: Earthen plaster over plywood siding?

Bob,
not to mention the outgassing of gasses used in making plywood, which
has already been mentioned, the answer is no you can not apply an
earthen plaster over plywood and expect it to hold on and to endure for
any period of time. Even if you used a concrete based plaster you'd
still have to prepare the surface for the plasters to adhere to. In
Japan, I've seen hemp ropes wrapped around "real" wood, leaving gaps
between the ropes, in order to give the earthen plaster something to key
into.

Also consider that plywood bends easily, a dried mud plaster might not
bend at the same time and may will crack easily. Not to mention
moisture absorption and expansion differences.
