Are you referring to Kate's Mayne Island house? Isn't it BEAUTIFUL??? I
think what they did there (not that I've seen it person, but just from
the online plans and photos), was essentially build a pole shed
(concrete pad, with posts supporting the roof), then built the walls
beneath it, in far enough from the posts that it was left with a large
overhanging roof most of the way around. I love how they put skylights
in over the porch sections.

The curvature of the walls and the interior walls make it pretty much
self supporting, although they would have to build up to the roof
rafters and they are likely tied in there. She also has a partial second
story on that house. Over all, it's one of the most wonderful cob homes
I've seen. I can't wait to see some online photos of the interior. I
really like the floor plan. On the floor plan, you can see how far out
the posts are set from the actual cob walls. Doing it this way allows
for a lot of protection for the walls.
