[Cob] perfect oil!Yun Que yunk88 at hotmail.comMon Feb 5 16:39:53 CST 2007
Cat here!
If you have got to have oil then here is what they did in Japan
before opening up to Europe...they would wipe down their floors...with
water from their baths. Since they soaped up, washed and rinsed out
side of the soaking bath the only thing that went into the water was
nice clean skin oil. Important when lots of people use the same
water.
The culture supported and admired this kind of fastidious labor, it
took generations to get a sumptuous polish on the floor. The damp
wipe allowed the water to act as the vehicle to move the oil into the
wood.
(any one see Fight Club?) Of course by now most American fat must
be somewhat carcinogenic. check out a book called "Japanese Homes and
Their Surroundings" by Edward S. Morse. copyright 1961 Dover
Publications. Wonderfully readable book about hand made houses and
the society that built them.
for the good of all C.
