Hi Veronica

The cob goes on in one layer. We stamp it and then pick up the whole tarp of cob and dump it on the floor. Piet then  works it level.

Lime Render is one part lime, 3 parts builders sand with a varient of 1 - 5 particle size and 1 part earth (your cobbing mix)
We put it on in a thin layer - 1/4 inch thick which is our scratch coat and then when hard a final coat also of 1/4 inch thick.
We leave until hard and dry and then seal with our linseed and turps. 

I am using raw linseed and heating to just under boiling

  2) Cna you explain again the lime render layer, please. I am not sure of the
