[Cob] cooling towers

Well, you might have had Native Americans using the venturi design in
Florida, but cooling towers are virtually useless anywhere in the deep south
because the humidity stays above 90%. All you'll get with a cooling tower is
really, really damp. And if you don't have AC there's already mold growing
on your shoes. As near as I can tell the only ways to make things
comfortable in the South are 1) reduce the humidity, 2) build really
thermally efficiently and you only have to run the AC minimally, 3) have a
lot of windows and doors (and, ideally, a wrap around screen porch and 14
foot ceilings) and pray for a breeze. It's no accident that the population
boom in the south didn't get started until the invention of AC.

You can also just get acclimated.
