[Cob] Decorative Glass WindowsYun Que yunk88 at hotmail.comMon Jul 30 22:03:05 CDT 2007
Cat here! Saw a lovely window made of miscellaneous thrift store glass plates and saucers, all leaded together and set into a frame. It had a dazzling effect. I would expect that anything that elaborate would need to be pre-hung in a frame that would take the shrinking of the cob so that the glass work is not stressed. For those who don't know building that would mean the frame holding the glass fits into a frame set in the cob. Molded in or on hinges. for the good of all C. ______________________________________________________________ From: <raduazo at cox.net> To: Cob <coblist at deatech.com>, Dulane <silkworm at spiderhollow.com> Subject: Re: [Cob] Decorative Glass Windows Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2007 21:47:22 -0400 MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: from vogon.deatech.com ([69.59.212.73]) by bay0-mc10-f21.bay0.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.2668); Mon, 30 Jul 2007 19:36:08 -0700 Received: from localhost([127.0.0.1] helo=vogon.deatech.com ident=list)by vogon.deatech.com with esmtp (Exim 4.63)(envelope-from <coblist-bounces at deatech.com>)id 1IFhW3-0001OL-Nu; Mon, 30 Jul 2007 19:31:19 -0700 Received: from eastrmmtao104.cox.net ([68.230.240.46])by vogon.deatech.com with esmtp (Exim 4.63)(envelope-from <raduazo at cox.net>) id 1IFhVr-0001OC-1Bfor coblist at deatech.com; Mon, 30 Jul 2007 19:31:14 -0700 Received: from eastrmimpo02.cox.net ([68.1.16.120]) by eastrmmtao104.cox.net(InterMail vM.7.08.02.01 201-2186-121-102-20070209) with ESMTPid <20070731014724.TPQY6835.eastrmmtao104.cox.net at eastrmimpo02.cox.net >;Mon, 30 Jul 2007 21:47:24 -0400 Received: from eastrmwml21.mgt.cox.net ([172.18.52.80])by eastrmimpo02.cox.net with bizsmtpid W1nN1X0081jpays0000000; Mon, 30 Jul 2007 21:47:22 -0400 Received: from 68.100.214.116 by webmail.east.cox.net;Mon, 30 Jul 2007 21:47:22 -0400 >Dulane: There are some really nice bottle cutting kits available on the Internet that you can use to cut colored bottles. I use a clear bottle for the outside and a blue or green bottle as the inside of my lights and I wrap the combination in Aluminum foil so that all the light that enters the outside bottle will be reflected to the inner wall. If you get bottles that telescope you can adjust them for the thickness of your wall. I like to have my lights intersect candle niches so that I can illuminate a point on the outside of my wall at night. >Ed >---- Dulane <silkworm at spiderhollow.com> wrote: > > I cannot let the opportunity to embed colored glass windows get past me. > > > > Do you think that thick old colored glass ashtrays would have some > > insulative effect as mini-windows?
