[Cob] Burnishing oil barrelsDon Jackson homesteadpower at hotmail.comWed Mar 25 12:44:14 PDT 2009
Re: >I have just burned the paint off 3 old barrels for my rocket >stove. Does anyone know how I can burnish them? I am in the >process of giving then their first sanding now,Maybe I'm missing something here, but this sounds sort of like trying to polish a turd. Ordinary tin doesn't burnish well, or if it does it rusts right away, and this isn't a particularly pretty or durable surface. That's the reason for carbon black, or wood stove finishes sold for this purpose. If you want this pretty and shiny, consider getting containers made out of stainless steel, or a stainless steel cover instead. _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail® is up to 70% faster.
