Cat here, A fellow over the next hollow is building a cob house with his wife and kids. They are using old brick from a demolished building to sort of skin the out side of the cob, like a veneer brick idea. I haven't been by his hollow in years since the only way in is by horse but I'm going to check it out this spring since the snow just collapsed one of my buildings in town and my truck runnith over!!! Yep this winter brick harvest is going to be a good one!!

On the stone? many of the foundations in this area are made of cut stone. I did a dry stack of natural stone and puzzled them together for my goat house. I am now getting brave and another neighbor gave me a milk crate of stone cutters tools, so I think the next step will be to customize the stone as I go! as long as my elbows hold out!!

Just for fun! Went to a wedding and the couple built their own house it was as cute and efficient as anyone would want! The chimney was all natural stone off their land, and meticulously constructed, however the higher it went the smaller the stones got. As we all admired it this gentle smile of amusement crept over all faces. Taking that stone to the top must have felt like building a pyramid!!

>On the topic of restrictions, This is one for the web masters I guess. I had completely forgotten one of the rules...'no attachments' as I sent my house plans out for comments (a mere 100ish k) but was cut off at the pass. Fair enough, but what of those of us who don't have a web address to post an image too. Could we allow attachments under a certain size?

Can someone please direct me to a list that is more generalized??? Not talking about the things that go along with cob building, ie, other natural building methods, none electrical appliances/off grid living, organic farming/gardening, seems to me to be nothing more than only ever eating one part of your meal.
