Cob: Plaster finish questionTaylor Publishing-DirtCheapBuilder tms at northcoast.comSun Aug 24 18:24:19 CDT 2003
I have some beautiful red clay which I would like to add to a very white lime plaster for finishing my cob wall. ++++++++++ Radu-- you're gonna get PINK with that combo..."play" sand is usually not sharp sand and makes a poor plaster, BUT if it is sea shells/coral it has a pozzolanic reation to clay/lime and may NOT be round after all..use a microscope/lookingglass to see if it is angular or round... you want sand shaped like a dog tooth...triangular, so it all locks together as it air carbonates back to limestone. You may have the best of all worlds in the Carribean sand if it is sharp and calciferous.
