[Cob] cob: linseed oil, finishes

Back about a year ago, there was a biggish discussion of oil
finishes/linseed oil in the Strawbale list, including how to treat your own
raw oil. No mention of explosions there, but I still think I'm NOT going to
heat raw linseed oil to 450 degrees F, for 45 minutes. The Steens do a
low-temp version that is described somewhere in the thread in this link:

Also, it looks rather as though Tried and True products are FINISHES, not
plain linseed oil. And apparently last year, at least, they had some
quality problems, according to a couple of posts in the wood finishers
forum.
