[Cob] Why soak lime?

hi,

i learned from a career tradesman that if you soak your hands in vinegar
after working with concrte, and hence lime, you will neutralize the base
and save your skin.

don't breathe the stuff. people have lost lungs from concrete dust
exposure. and the active ingredient is lime.
